Asthma Quality Improvement

ICC participated with the Alabama Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics as one of twelve practices statewide to begin assessing and improving the quality of asthma care we provide.  Over the course of the 16 month project period we saw an increase in quality care from 70% to 95% through more effective use of pulmonary function testing, asthma action plans, daily controller medications and encouraging flu shots.  This resulted in improved care of our patients and decreased emergency and urgent care of asthma as well as hospitalizations.

With warmer weather comes outside adventures that always bring a new set of concerns and the occasional injury. Make sure to apply sunscreen on your child to prevent sunburns, keep them safe as they play, stay hydrated during the hot weather, and apply insect repellent for those hungry mosquitos.
