ATTENTION ICC PATIENTS

In an effort to better serve our patients' needs, we have revised our grace period policy for late appointment arrivals from 30 minutes to 15 minutes. We strive to be respectful of each family’s time while they are in our office.  We feel this policy change will improve our patients' overall experience by assisting to reduce extended wait times. Thank you for allowing us the privilege to care for your children.

Virtual school vs. traditional school

We have received numerous phone calls in the past few weeks from parents who are trying to decide what is the best schooling method and our recommendations.  We agree with the AAP policy that schools should open and function as safely as possible.  Children rely on schools for education, socialization, and nutrition. Many factors may play into your decision, but the bottom line is you need to do what is best for your family.

For some families, the best option may be traditional school (with safety guidelines). Your child may be craving peer interaction, you may not have childcare available to do virtual school, or you may not feel like you can adequately teach your own child.  That is okay!  The data thus far has shown that children tend to have milder disease and are less likely to spread COVID-19.  However, we would encourage you to have your child wear a mask, teach good handwashing, and social distance when possible.  There are very few contraindications to wearing a mask, and it does not decrease your oxygen levels.

The virtual school option may be appealing to many families – especially those whose children have chronic health issues that would put them at higher risk for complications or who have elderly caregivers. Virtual school will require guidance from a caregiver for the younger children and a strong individual work ethic for older children, so keep that in mind when making your decision.

Ultimately, the decision between virtual vs. traditional school is up to your individual family and what is best for you and your children.  We cannot make the decision for you, but are here to support you no matter what you decide!
